Sunday musings.

This week was a mix of good and bad.

This week I had a meeting with Toni at work. Basically with the new system/website at work going live on the 1st March they have asked me to cancel my leave that day because they need me to work.
I have to admit on one hand its really nice to know that your company needs you for such an important step in their history. But it really sucks that their poor planning means that they didn't foresee this. I mean, the whole reason I was having a long weekend is because its my first wedding anniversary the day before. Sigh. Oh well. I'm sure that we will have a fantastic weekend (providing that the weather holds up!).

I was so happy to get my new bike this week - its a fantastic black Giant (that sounds so rude!).
I've had a fantastic few days riding around and just getting myself familiar with getting back onto two wheels.
It's been almost 5 years since I've been on anything that has two wheels.
I have to admit that it was quite unnerving getting back on the road again.
Yesterday I went for a ride and it took me through Western Park. I had forgotten how exhilarating it can be to ride fast and not have anywhere to go.
I felt elated and almost like I was soaring. It was great.
Although, the downside today is that my arse is sore and my palms are a little ouchy. Solved that by popping into  R&R Sport as they had an up to 60% off bike accessories sale.
I found some bike shorts (I know shorts right?!) that had 20% off - they aren't great but they will save my butt until I can afford some better ones! I also got some gloves -30% off to save my poor little hands.
Well, got home and tried the shorts on and I have to say that they are the most unflattering things I could possibly have ever worn! They also feel like I'm wearing a nappy. Might have to work on that!

I really want to be able to compete in the Lake Taupo bike ride in November. I really think that I can do it. It is a 160kms. I'm actually really excited!
I also want to run the Adidas Auckland Marathon again this year. Depending on how I feel I would really like to do the half marathon. I think that I will probably enter it (I just need to fully convince myself). It will be one of my greatest personal achievements to date.

This week the husband and I have decided that take-outs are banned during weekdays. Maybe this will save us some money. I absolutely love it when we cook dinner together. Rick chops and I stir. It's like a match made in heaven. Although if Rick isn't there then Sprout is happy to hang out with me!

I feel really bad about Sprouts feet today. I took her on a bike ride/run and the poor little thing ran so hard that she now has blisters on the pads of her feet. She keeps limping everywhere :-( She really knows how to tug on my heartstrings!
I'm looking at getting her some of NeoPaws running shoes to protect her feet. I have to admit that I had a little chuckle when I imagined her wearing them. I'm very tempted to get her Doggles too. I wonder if her little doggy soul can take the humiliation of wearing them both combined?!
